RELAY ENLISTS BLAIR FOR MARKETING ROLE

Relay has appointed Tony Blair to a key communications role. His brief is to promote the company in as impactful a way as possible.
Tying the PM’s resignation into celebrations of our tenth year in business, we cheekily rolled out a timely, issues-led direct marketing campaign complete with fake ministerial envelopes - the day he announced that he would be leaving office.
|
|
Established when Tony came to power, in 1997, Relay has used his imminent move from Downing Street to present Blair as job candidate and pose the question, what will he do next? The after dinner circuit, perhaps? Reform Ugly Rumours for a reunion tour, maybe? UN Secretary General, anyone?
Wherever Tony does end up, the process will doubtless be engineered by a team of representatives who will ensure that he gets the right position and remuneration - and we draw parallels with our own abilities to match the best candidates with their ideal roles.
Reasoning that both men will be interested in the soon-to-be-former Premier’s next move, we have also sent the mailer to Messrs Brown and Blair. No reply yet.

Said managing director, Steven Street: "The reaction has been truly staggering, with dozens of people ringing to say what a memorable device it is. Such unsolicited responses just don’t happen with advertising and mail-outs.
“Mr Blair is on our mailing list, but for reasons of confidentiality we cannot discuss any specific candidate relationships."
